Stathern Village Survey – update (Nov 2007)

It has been some months since we conducted the village survey and we felt that we should issue an interim report pending the full analysis of the data.

In March of 2007 all residents of Stathern were given the opportunity to express their views of the village and its future in a comprehensive questionnaire.  A high proportion of residents took part and the results have been entered into a large database.  This is taking some time to analyse, but we felt you may be interested in some of the key points that came out from the survey.

Some of the data has been analysed by volunteers from the village and from this we have developed a draft action plan to address some the key current issues. This is currently being discussed with various service providers (MBC, Electricity, etc).  We hope to have the full results analysed by the new year and a full report formally launched in the spring of next year.

There were three surveys : adult, teenagers and children. These figures following are extracts from the adult data. The full details can be seen at :

  • When coming back to Stathern the view over the whole vale makes me glad to be home.
  • We have some of the most beautiful areas of the Vale with the views from Toft’s Hill, enhanced by the footpaths. This should not be destroyed by unnecessary development
  • Working in a city, I really appreciate being able to escape to the country side and especially to be able to appreciate that from my own home.
