ST. GUTHLAC’S CHURCH
Attempted theft from the Church
In the early hours of Friday 4th January thieves attempted to remove lead from St Guthlac’s church roof. Lead was disturbed and damaged in five places but we think nothing was taken on this occasion. The police have been contacted and we are arranging for repairs. Over £2000 worth of damage was done!

If you see anything suspicious in connection with the church, please note any vehicle number and contact Roger Hawkins on 860215 or John Deave on 860340, or phone 999 in an emergency, or the Police Crime Desk on 0116 222 2222.
Unfortunately we believe there will be further attempts, despite the preventative measures we have taken.
Bishop Tim’s visit to Stathern, Saturday February 9th
On Saturday February 9th , Bishop Tim Stevens, Bishop of Leicester, is visiting Stathern as part of his Lent pilgrimage.
Whilst times at the moment are not definite, he is likely to arrive at 11.30 am to conduct prayers in the church followed by a Parish Lunch in the War Memorial Institute, during which he wishes to meet as many persons as possible.
He will then depart on foot for Knipton via Toft’s Hill and anyone can accompany him, at least for part of the way. More details to follow on parish notice boards.

Christingle Service
The Christingle Service held in December raised £100 for The Children’s Society. Many thanks to all those who attended and contributed so generously.

Can You Help?
As many of you enjoyed the Christmas celebrations in Church I am sure you noticed how beautifully decorated it was, how the brasses gleamed and the carpets and pews were tidy. Visitors have often commented on the tidiness of our ancient and beautiful Church. This is all down to a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time to keep it so.
However, we would like some young blood in the team of helpers to lighten the load on mainly old shoulders. If you are willing to give a few hours of time to help please contact
